How To Create a Successful Website : The Definite Step-By-Step Guide

Before you sit down to start creating your new website, ask yourself very clearly exactly what it’s intended to achieve. Some sites are built with e-commerce in mind, others as an extension of a wider branding effort or as a call to action for people to contact you. The intention of the website has to play a part in every decision you make about its design. If you have a clear vision from the outset, you’ll be building on the firmest possible foundations… Your website has to be designed and built in such a manner that any visitors, once they clicked through to the site, will want to stay around and explore. Here are some of  the techniques you can use to ensure that your new website is a success.

Logo Design for a New Tax Platform by OMdeSIGN Studio

taxanimi-stamp

Overview

Taxes, don’t you just love them? No, of course you don’t, nobody does, which is why Taxa.. was created. Their aim was to present an online platform capable of rendering the complexity of the Tax Code in plain English, interactive images and user-friendly schemes. In other words, to stop talking Tax, and start talking human.

Challenge

Taxa..  asked OMdeSIGN London design studio to help with their branding and we were only too happy to say yes. They wanted something that embodied simplicity and quality, something that would cut through the fog of Tax law and reach out to the kind of wealth creators who realise that time is money and solutions save time.

Solution

We worked with Taxa..  to create a logo and brand which was authentic and minimalist whilst capturing an ethos of trust and simplicity. The inspiration was the cool logic of a chess game, an environment, just like tax affairs, in which rules matter and success depends upon playing by them. The image of the rook embodied a sense of security and trust, whilst the subtle colour scheme conveyed a feeling of calm. The logo was distinctive yet understated, immediately creating a stress free mood and the certainty that if Tax was a problem, then Taxa.. was the answer.

OMdeSIGN builds a responsive website for the Lending Standards Board

London award winning web design agency, OMdeSIGN, are proud to announce the launch of a brand new website for leading financial body the Lending Standards Board

The Lending Standards Board (LSB) is a body which seeks to promote, instil and maintain good practice in relation to financial products. They do this by monitoring and enforcing compliance with the Lending Code, a self-regulatory set of rules and regulations pertaining to financial institutions such as banks, credit card providers and debt collection agencies, all of whom have to meet stringent standards to be allowed to even apply. Sponsored by the British Bankers’ Association (BBA) and the UK Cards Association, they have the full weight of the industry behind them. In an age of mistrust and scepticism, much of it aimed at financial bodies, signing up to the code is an attempt by the bodies concerned to instil a sense of trust between themselves and their customers, and the LSB both oversees the code and assists with its implementation.

The LSB came to OMdeSIGN and asked us to design and build their new responsive websitelsb-website-responsive-min. Following a major review which had led to fundamental changes to the Code, they wanted to be able to work with and through an online presence which reflected the service they offered, the ethos they represented and the kind of trust they wanted to engender. They felt that their website now represented a key part of both their branding and their service delivery, and they wanted us to make sure it met these challenges.

We worked closely with them to create a website which hit every target. Above all else, the finished site would promote the Code and provide a first port of call for anyone seeking advice, reassurance or information. The branding would help to cement a reputation for trust and competence, while the intuitive interface would make the site user-friendly and accessible. This last, in particular, had to apply no matter what size or type of device the site was being accessed on. Finally, and looking to future-proof the site, we built a simple, easily utilised content management system, allowing the LSB to update the site to reflect changes in the financial landscape or the needs of visitors.

One of the key selling points of the LSB site is the sheer wealth of content it gathers through the portal we created. We engineered a design which made it easy for visitors to work through this material seeking the information they need. Taken together, the work we devoted to the site has positioned the LSB as the leading UK authority on lending practice, and has built a brand which is capable of reaching out to all parts of the audience.

OMdeSIGN designs and builds state of the art e-commerce website for designer florist Paul Thomas Flowers

London based web design agency, OMdeSIGN, are proud to announce the launch of a brand new e-commerce website for the innovative, high end designer florist Paul Thomas Flowers

To call Paul Thomas Flowers a designer florist is to understate matters somewhat. Since starting his own business in 1989, having trained with Kenneth Turner, Paul has been earning plaudits for the unique style, endless innovation and seemingly effortless beauty of the floral works of art which he creates. A passion for the flowers he works with allied to a fearlessly bold eye for aesthetic detail have earned Paul a reputation for supplying hotels, restaurants, shops and offices – as well as people simply seeking a beautiful treat – with designs described, time and again, as ‘luscious’, ‘explosive’ and ‘beautiful’.

Paul Thomas e-commerce website

Despite a client list which already includes Vivienne Westwood, the Ritz London and the Royal family, Paul came to OMdeSIGN to expand his online presence via a bespoke e-commerce website. The OMdeSIGN web agency team worked closely with Paul to design a site which captured and reflected the visual impact of the designs for which he is famous. Paul Thomas Flowers provided the stunning imagery and we built a website designed specifically to make the most of the carefully crafted beauty on display. This meant creating full width slideshows on the homepage and product pages and complimenting this with an overall look which matched Paul’s creations for style, elegance and the wow factor.

Not only did the website we built look the part but it got the job done. It was responsive to the full range of mobile devices and easy to navigate. A custom built content management system meant that the team at Paul Thomas could update the content of the site as quickly as they fashioned stunning new creations, whilst the administrative interface made it simple to perform tasks such as managing stock, taking delivery details and dealing with payments. Everything which you should be able to take for granted when using an e-commerce website, in other words, allied to a grasp of the business which meant that the site played a key role in projecting and emphasising the up-market yet accessible nature of Paul Thomas Flowers.

Since being launched, the site has received overwhelmingly positive feedback and helped to drive a rise in online sales.

Are You Ready For Google Mobile Friendly Update?

There used to be a saying which ran something along the lines of ‘When America sneezes, the whole world catches a cold’, an aphorism designed to capture the overwhelming global financial clout of the USA. As the 21st century advances, it may well be that those with a keen eye on the general good health of the world are more inclined to watch out for China developing the sniffles, but the principle remains the same. When a big player does something different, it’s smart to pay particularly close attention, and in the fields of web design, internet searching and e-commerce, they simply don’t come any bigger than Google.

Mobile friendly website

The change in question is an alteration which Google has made to its’ search algorithm. The search algorithm is the almost sacred, semi-mystical formula which Google uses to come up with its all-important page rankings
